More about kat...

my own experience with coaching

I never was one for "coaching." In fact, I still cringe a little when I tell people I coach. I got my own coach a few years after facing some hard personal decisions and trying to figure out who I was professionally. My initial encounters with coaches left me unimpressed and without results. My coach was out of touch and stuck in a fake, perfect instagram world and failed to connect with me.

My next coach took the time to understand me and offered grounded techniques that actually worked. The experience lead me through a career shift and inspired me to start my own research and brand strategy consultancy as well as empowered me to pursue coaching. I felt more enabled in my everyday life - more present, more able to tackle challenges and more energized.

me professionally

I started out in Australia working client-side before moving to New York where I’ve worked in brand strategy across different agencies, including Saatchi & Saatchi, Grey, Johannes Leonardo, Omnicom, The Marketing Arm and KWG. I count myself lucky to have worked in an industry where you learn and grow through being exposed to different perspectives, personalities and workplace cultures.

On the flipside, the subjectivity and diversity of thought which makes the industry so creative, can make it challenging for the people who work within it. Seeing and experiencing this personally as well as the power coaching can have drove me to start Illuminated coaching. A more relevant form of coaching for people at a midpoint of their personal or professional life.

my credentials

I have completed my coaching training with the Co-Active Training Institute (CTI) which is accredited by the International Coach Federation (ICF), the gold standard in coaching certification.

me personally

In my personal time, I've developed a passion for running marathons. Beyond the physical benefits, it has taught me the importance of hard work, determination, and commitment in achieving goals. Running has also shown me that humans weren’t built to be great at everything. We need the support of others with different strengths and expertise to positively reinforce us and drive us forward. This perspective has helped shaped my approach to coaching.

Other tidbits about me: I love traveling, with Lisbon and Mexico City being my favorite destinations. In another life, I would have been a travel agent, as I excel at finding the best deals on flights and accommodation :) While I no longer drink, I enjoy sitting at bars to people-watch and meet new people.
